CPL Team Requirements

Team Roster

Each CPL team consists of 16 players — 8 men and 8 women. Typically, 12 players compete in each match, with the remaining players available as substitutes. To successfully establish a CPL team, the team hould have at least 16 qualified and committed players, a designated team captain or coordinator, and enough player availability to consistently field a competitive lineup throughout the season.

Skill Divisions

Teams compete within designated DUPR skill divisions. Brackets include:

3.0 All Ages and 3.0 (50+)
3.5 All Ages and 3.5 (50+)
4.0 All Ages and 4.0 (50+)
4.5 All Ages
3.25 Womens
3.75 Mens and 4.5 Mens

Verified DUPR Ratings

All players must have an active and official DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) that falls within the requirements of their team's division before the applicable registration deadline.

Age or Gender Divisions

CPL offers Open/All-Ages divisions, 50+ divisions and designated gender divisions. Players participating in a 50+ division generally must turn 50 during the applicable calendar year.

Season Commitment & Availability

Players should be prepared to commit to approximately a 10–14 week regular season, plus playoffs if the team qualifies. This includes:

Weekly CPL matches
Team practices as scheduled
Home and away matches
Occasional weekend matches or doubleheaders
Travel to participating clubs within the region

Because only 12 of the 16 rostered players typically compete in each match, players must communicate their availability throughout the season so the team can maintain a complete lineup.

Tryouts

CPL tryouts at the club are generally held 6–8 weeks before the start of each upcoming season. Tryouts allow the club to evaluate interested players and determine appropriate team placement.

Team selection may consider DUPR rating, playing ability, doubles compatibility, sportsmanship, availability, and overall commitment to the team.

Fees & Costs

CPL League Fee:
League administration fees are generally approximately $100 per player for the season.

Match/Court Fees:
Players may also be responsible for facility or court fees for individual matches. These fees generally range from approximately $18–$25 per match, depending on the host facility.
